The Frikos cold storage plant is located in the centre of Western Serbia, a region called Rađevina. It is situated in an area of mountains whose peaks rise to over one thousand metres and nestled amongst low hills perfect for growing fruit (such as strawberries, raspberries, sour cherries, blackberries, blueberries, and plums, to name just a few). We purchase, freeze, and process berries.
Our cold storage facility was constructed in 2000 and extends over six hectares. We are able to store about 5,000 tonnes of frozen produce.
The capacity of our continuous tunnel freezers is 80 tonnes over 24 hours, while our standard tunnels can process 140 tonnes of produce every 24 hours.
Some 70 percent of the fruit purchased by Frikos is grown within 50 kilometres of the cold store, and more than 80 percent of it comes in fresh. This allows us to choose the best produce and freeze it at just the right time.
The company is wholly owned and managed by two families.
